AVMA 2024 highlights to watch out for

One of the most exciting highlights of AVMA 2024 is the launch of the Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Test by Heska and Antech Diagnostics.

This groundbreaking test provides rapid and accurate in-hospital diagnostics for canine cancers. It’s a significant step forward in veterinary medicine, offering better decision-making and improved patient outcomes.

Make the most of your AVMA Convention 2024 experience

While the convention itself is packed with valuable sessions and exhibits, don’t forget to take some time to explore the vibrant city of Austin. Here are some must-see attractions and activities:

Congress Bridge Bats

Experience the awe-inspiring sight of the Congress Bridge Bats, the largest urban bat colony in North America. Each evening from mid-March to early November, about 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats emerge from under the Congress Avenue bridge. It’s a free event, just a short walk from the Austin Convention Center. Make sure to arrive 90 minutes before sunset to secure a good viewing spot.

Food Truck Parks

Austin is famous for its food trucks, offering a delightful variety of cuisines. From tacos to grilled cheese sandwiches, the city’s food truck scene has something for everyone. Visit The Picnic at 1720 Barton Springs Rd., Austin’s original food-truck park, where you can enjoy a range of delicious options. Join us at the AVMA Food Festival on Friday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a taste of Texas cuisine accompanied by live music.

Mount Bonnell Trail

For breathtaking views of Austin, hike up Mount Bonnell in Covert Park. Standing at 781 feet, it’s the highest point within the city’s original limits. The trail is accessible to all ages and offers stunning scenery. Remember, there are no facilities on the trail, so plan accordingly.

Elephant Room

Jazz lovers won’t want to miss the Elephant Room, an iconic jazz club located in the historic Swift Building. Enjoy live jazz performances every night, with no cover charge from 5-8 p.m. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day at the convention.

Upstairs Circus

Combine creativity with cocktails at Upstairs Circus, a unique bar-meets-workshop venue. Create leather, wood, or jewelry projects while enjoying craft drinks. Reservations are required, so book your spot in advance for a fun, creative evening.
